Chris is founding partner and owner of Vaughn-Martel Law.

Bar Admissions & Memberships:

Chris is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and is admitted to membership in the American Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, as well as the Massachusetts Lesbian and Gay Bar Association.

Education & Experience:

Chris received his Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was honored as Distinguished Oral Advocate in the first year moot court competition.  In addition to his studies, Chris served on the Executive Board of the Queer Law Alliance and provided advocacy and outreach to indigent persons through Shelter Legal Services.

During his second year of law school, Chris clerked for a law firm in Boston and assisted in prosecuting a municipal employment discrimination case in federal court.  Subsequently, Chris worked as a clerk, and then first year associate, in a small real estate and family law litigation firm on Boston's South Shore.

Prior to law school, Chris received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he also received a minor in Psychology and New York State teaching certification.

Activities & Community Involvement:

Chris serves as a private pro bono attorney for the Rape Survivors' Law Project at Boston's Victim Rights Law Center  (VRLC), providing legal representation for victims of sexual assault in privacy, safety, housing, education, employment, and financial compensation matters.

Chris also serves as a pro bono Legal Consultant to the Massachusetts Transgender Legal Advocates (MTLA), a group of law students and lawyers committed to addressing the needs of low income transgender people in Massachusetts.

Chris was honored to be nominated by colleagues and named as a Rising Star by Boston Magazine in its 2009 list of Super Lawyers.

Chris lives in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston with his husband, Brian, and their Springer Spaniel, Charlie.
